A BIT OF HISTORY

The village of Bastia come from the old village of Valirano, which today remains only some rests and the Church of S. Stefano (1100).

However, there are just few news, previous to that date, the manuscripts related to relating facts of the Templari order, known in the country side of Albenga.

Especially in Valirano that receives from 1139 to 1180 one of the most important building of the Knights of the Temple.

This ancient village takes the name of Bastia with the construction of a defensive town-walls (1200/1300), built up during the possession from part of the diocese, and a fortified house made from the Republic of Genoa (1300/1400), where a garrison of run soldiers is stable as body centre of a system of turrets scattered on the territory in complex system of obstruction and sight to defence of the plan and the city of Albenga.

Of ancient construction it is also the water channel (1400) that is still taken advantage, prove that the local economy was already based of agriculture.

From 1800, with the end of the Republic of Genoa, it becomes part of the Reign of Sardinia and from 1870 the Reign of Italy.

Today the village Bastia is composed of 1200 people.

The house fortified over cited is today the centre of the Azienda Agraria Anfossi and is show faithfully on all labels, being the registered trademark.

Born as military structure, became after 1600, centre of several convents and after the 1800 private house, becoming larger itself, until the existing structure of today
